As you know, our current collective bargaining agreement with Verizon does not expire until August 1, 2026.
However, Verizon, CWA and IBEW are jointly announcing today that we will be entering into bargaining beginning May 21, 2025 to determine whether it is possible to agree on the terms of a contract extension.
MARBLEHEAD – Wayne L. Janian, aged 73, passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2024, at Salem Hospital in Massachusetts. Born in Lynn, MA, Wayne was a current resident of Marblehead, MA.
Wayne was predeceased by his beloved wife, Deborah Janian, in 2016, and his parents, Charles and Barbara (Donahue) Janian. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dean and Keith Janian. Wayne is survived by his devoted daughter, Laura (Janian) Rocco, of Atkinson, NH, and her late husband, Paul Rocco. He leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Arianna, Nicholas, and Jacoby Tilden, who brought immense joy to his life, and his beloved sister Lynda Nordyke of Lynn, MA. Wayne also shared a special companionship with Deb Farley, who was a significant part of his later years.
Dedicated professional, Wayne retired from Verizon after many years of service as a linesman. His career continued at the Palmer Cove Yacht Club in Salem, MA, where he enjoyed working as a bartender, forming lasting friendships with patrons and colleagues alike.
Wayne was an avid golfer; known for his love of the sport and the camaraderie it brought. He was a great friend to many. His life was enriched by numerous vacations with family and friends, particularly enjoying beach trips and visits to Florida, where he created lasting memories.
He also leaves behind Jean Galante of Lynn, MA; Billy and Dawn Galante of Lynn, MA; Johnny Galante of Tewksbury, MA; and Kathy St. Claire and her late husband Harold St. Claire of West Palm Beach, Fl. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Wayne will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, wisecrack jokes, and dry sense of humor, but mostly with the love he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the moments spent with him.
IBEW Local 2321 is offering six $800 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are children and grandchildren of active Local 2321 members. Our annual scholarship program is run in conjunction with the Massachusetts AFL-CIO scholarship program.
Candidates must earn a passing score on a labor history exam which will take place at their school the week of February 3-7, 2025. Registration forms and exam study guides are available at massafl-cio.org/scholarships. The deadline to register is December 20, 2024.
