Apply for a Union Plus Scholarship for Union Families

Union Plus is awarding $200,000 in scholarships for 2024. Join the hundreds of union families who benefit from a Union Plus Scholarship every year. Start your application online anytime and save your progress. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.

Pictured above are three 2023 Scholarship winners: Blake Morrison, the son of a California School Employees Association (CSEA) member; Jayla Travis, the daughter of a Communications Workers of America (CWA) member in Mississippi; and Angel Zarobinksi, the spouse of a Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) member in California.

Scholarship awards range from $500 to $4,000. Current or retired union members, members’ spouses and the children and dependents of members, who are pursuing post-secondary education, are eligible to apply. Visit unionplus.org/scholarship.

Support MNA Nurses!!

The nurses at Beth Israel Lahey Anna Jaques Hospital – along with all the caregivers there – have always been there for their community. They braved COVID, and they have persevered as staffing has dwindled. We need the community’s hospital to be strong and well-staffed and resourced. Nurses know what they need to take care of us. We ask that the executives at BI-Lahey Health listen to the front-line caregivers and get them what they need.

RIP Brother McGreevey

It is with deep regret that I announce the death of Brother Mike McGreevey. Mike was a service rep formerly at the Crosspoint Towers in Lowell. He recently left the company following a lengthy absence, so his passing, while not unexpected, is no less sad. Mike will be missed by his family, friends, and co-workers. Please keep them in your prayers. Calling hours are on Thursday, November 30th, from 4-7pm, at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral home at 223 Lawrence St. in Methuen. His funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 1st beginning at 11:00 am at Saint Monica Catholic Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, Ma. 02114-1101.

Again, please keep Mike, his family, and friends in your prayers.

Special Incentive EIPP Retirement Meetings for IBEW Members

The IBEW Local Unions Savings and Security Plan is a qualified defined contribution plan established in 1975 for IBEW members. The plan is overseen by the IBEW Trustees and offers members a qualified plan to roll over their Verizon Pension and Fidelity 401(K) assets.
